Mass Nerder

It’s hard to understand why ALL don’t seem to get the same respect their parent band, the Descendents, get. After all, _ of ALL are in the Descendents, anyway, and ALL play the same brand of infectious pop-punk that the Descendents practically invented. In fact, listening to Mass Nerder, it’s easily as good as anything the Descendents have done, not to mention that it’s the best ALL record since the classic Allroy’s Revenge. From start to finish, Nerder is a melodic, adrenaline-charged romp. Highlights include the superfueled “World’s On Heroin” (a song that anyone who has been stuck behind one of Florida’s innumerable retirees on the way to work will relate to), “Greedy,” and “Fairweather Friend,” the almost-wistful “I’ll Get There,” and the sweetly romantic “Until I Say So.” Picking just a few tracks really doesn’t do this record justice, though, as there isn’t a stinker here. If you like punk at all, you owe it to yourself to pick this up. After a few listens, you’ll already be singing along as if all the songs were already old favorites.
