King Black Acid
Loves a Long Song
More beautiful music slipping out of the West Coast wonderland. Anyone remember Mary My Hope? Well, the vocals and dynamics here remind me of that band, but perhaps that helps no one. Driving and lush, hypnotic and almost shoegazing flow. The vocals are whispering and dark, moving against the flow of keyboards, slight distortion on the edge of the words until they break into a scream and then bridge through into chorus. Slow and heavy, but not too much. Like psychedelic depression moving right on the surface of a river. The build-up, the rise… it grows and swells like a tidal wave. You’ll notice all the liquid references here, but that’s just because if you’re not careful, this music could drown you.
